Understanding wig lingo

What is Virgin hair?

Virgin hair is 100 % human hair that has never been dyed or chemically treated in any manner whatsoever.  Needless to say, few people have not added some form of chemical to their hair at some point in their lives and, as such, finding a sufficient amount of virgin hair to use in making wigs is very difficult. Because it is so rare, virgin hair is extremely expensive and generally unaffordable to the public. Be careful of anyone who is advertising "virgin hair" if it does not come with an extraordinary price tag.

Peruvian and Brazilian hair

This refers to the type of hair. Peruvian and Brazilian hair is the best quality because it is thick, shiny and does not shred.  At Dina Doe, we sell only Peruvian and Brazilian hair.

What is Remy hair?

Remy hair is also 100 % human hair, but it could have been dyed or chemically treated at some point in the donor's life.  This type of hair was taken from a ponytail and, as such, the cuticles and strands are all aligned in the same direction.

In contrast to this, 100 % human hair that is not remy, can be any hair, as long as it came from a human scalp - meaning it can come from the floor of a hair salon, a brush, or even a corpse! It's cuticles and strands are not all aligned.

Remy hair is of premium quality and, as such, more expensive than human hair that is not remy.

At Dina Doe, we sell only remy hair.
